Ultimate Guide for Cherry Blossoms Viewing at Chidorigafuchi Moat and Park (千代田区立千鳥ヶ淵公園)

One of the few places you can go in Tokyo to view cherry blossoms on a rowboat!This is one of the most popular destinations for cherry blossoms so expect large crowds, and if you're interested in renting a rowboat it's best to arrive around 8:00 AM (they open at 9:30AM) before the queues get too long.

When: Usually late March ~ Early April

How much: Free to stroll around, 500 yen for 30 minutes/1000 yen for an hour for a rowboat rental

Below are the four locations to note before going. It's a lot of walking to each of these destinations, so be prepared to spend a few hours here and wear comfortable shoes. If you want to rent a rowboat I recommend going to the Chidorigafuchi Boat Pier 千鳥ヶ淵ボート場 first early in the morning to wait in line and then after recommend starting from going to each location in order from 1-3.

1. Chidorigafuchi Park 千代田区立千鳥ヶ淵公園

Address: 〒100-0001 Tokyo, Chiyoda City, Kojimachi, 1 Chome−２

- About a five minute walk from Hanzomon Station is Chidorigafuchi Park, a long footpath along the palace moat with cherry blossoms on either side. You can start here and make your way to the other 3 destinations.

2. Kitanomaru Park 北の丸公園 near the 怡和園跡 (landmark)

Address: 1-1 Kitanomarukoen, Chiyoda City, Tokyo 102-0091

- A great spot to sit on a bench and enjoy the cherry blossoms. You can also see some of the rowboats and swan boats from a distance at certain parts of the park. You can access the park by walking along the Daikancho-Dori 代官町通り from Chidorigafuchi Park which takes about 15 minutes. You can then exit via the Tayasumon Gate 田安門 to get to Kudanzaka Park 千代田区立九段坂公園.
