A little history of the garden from the Tokyo Metropolitan Park Association:
"Meiji and Taisho era writer Roka (Kenjiro) Tokutomi is known for his masterpieces such as The Heart of Nami-san, Nature and Man, and Idle Words of an Earthworm. This is where he and his wife Aiko spent the later halves of their lives.
For the 10th anniversary of Roka Tokutomi’s death in 1936, his wife Aiko donated this Koshu-en garden to Tokyo."
