538 Steps to Kamikura Shrine 神倉神社

538 steps will bring you to Kamikura Shrine 神倉神社, which is half way up Mt. Gongenyama in Wakayama prefecture. Its quite the journey but worth it for the view. "Oto Matsuri" is held at this shrine on February 6th where around 2000 men who are referred to as "noboriko" carry torches charging down from the shrine while singing "Shingu-setsu" to pray for health and good harvest.

It was rainy and cloudy the day that we went. but it was still a great view of the city!
